I'm using SAP Business objects Design Studio 1.5.
I have used Cross-tab as a fake selection to display hierarchy in my application. Cross-tab is Multi-select allowed and selection allowed on Rows only (no key-figures are available in Data-source). Hierarchy present in data source is presentation hierarchy. My problem is that, Multi-selection is not allowed in the cross-tab in this scenario even Cross-tab properties are set to multi-select.
Steps to re-create issue
Below are the steps to create presentation hierarchy in BEx.
- Add required dimensions to Rows. In my case, i have added Continent and Region to Rows.
- Click on the Rows Header
- Navigate to Properties pane and check "activate" to enable presentation hierarchy
- And expand nodes to required level ( In my case, expanded till Region)

- Save this query
Now, import this query to SAP Business Objects Design Studio as a Data-source and map this to Cross-tab
Change the properties of cross-tab as mentioned above ( or required changes are high-lighted in the screenshot also)
Now, Execute the Design Studio application and click on the cross-tab, you may notice the following behaviors
- Multi-selection is not possible on cross-tab when (please use CTRL for multi-select)
- first click on cross-tab dimensions on any level of hierarchy will make the item as selected, but second click on any-other dimensions of the same level makes the previously selected dimension de-selected and even the second click is not making anything as selected.
- clicking on different levels allows multi-select only once and then de-selected based on level of third selected dimension.
Kindly help me on this issue.
Note: Cross-tab works well when it is used as a fake selector with an actual hierarchical info-object ( even allows multi-selection too)
