We have an ongoing project that uses Design Studio for some of our dashboarding requirements and despite encountering no product stability issues previously, as of the middle of last week we seem to be encountering a number of strange problems (not seen before) that fall within the following scenarios:
1. Changes not being retained – when changing a property of an individual dashboard component changes to the property value initially appear to have been accepted, but following subsequent property changes, the initial value changes are being lost.
2. Properties panel unresponsive – following making a change to a specific object property the navigation context to the object being modified and it is not possible to navigate to another object to make further changes; following a number of attempts to navigate to another object, control is restored and once again the developer is able to navigate as expected. Logs are captured within the eclipse environment.
3. Designer / Eclipse environment crashes – having opened a dashboard and commenced to make modification, the designer environment freezes and eventually an Eclipse log is produced. A restart of the designer is required to recover from this scenario.
A variation of these are being encountered on all developers’ workstations and the problem appears to be present in earlier versions of the same dashboard, where previously this issue was not encountered.Likewise this also seems to affect all of the dashboards we are developing. I have attached error logs that are produced when these issues occur.
We are running with the following versions of software:
Design Studio – Release 1.6 SP1 Patch 1
Java – SAP 1.7.0_76
We presently suspect that this is some form of environmental issue, caused by rollout of something onto the desktop environment. Has anyone encountered anything similar or suggest that most optimal way of troubleshooting this?
